The Mekeni Story

MEKENI FOOD CORPORATION is a multi-awarded food company established in 1986 by public school teachers Felix and Medicia Garcia. Tucked in the municipality of Porac in the province of Pampanga, Philippines, Mekeni distributes high-quality products from Luzon to Mindanao and exports products to countries like Australia, Bahrain, Brunei, Canada, Japan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands, UAE, and the US.

Our founders built Mekeni to augment the family’s income. However, after the Mt. Pinatubo eruption in 1991, they realized that they want to turn Mekeni into a company that provides livelihood and employment opportunities. Through the hard work and dedication of its leaders and employees, the company grew to be one of the largest food companies in the country.

FIRST MEAT PROCESSING PLANT IN ASIA TO MEET ISO 22000 REQUIREMENTS

In 2006, after bagging the National Meat Inspection Service’s Best Meat Processing Plant (Nationwide) recognition for three consecutive years, Mekeni became the first meat processing company in Asia and the second in the world to meet the requirements of ISO 22000:2005.

It is also a recipient of the World Quality Commitment Award – Diamond Category (France, 2016), the International Arch of Europe Platinum Award (Germany, 2013), and the Century International Quality ERA Award-Gold Category (Switzerland, 2012). It also earned Good Manufacturing (GMP) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) accreditations for its strict compliance with food safety regulations.

GROWING PRODUCT PORTFOLIO

With a clearer mission and several accolades for its commitment to food safety and quality, Mekeni has grown to be one of the pillars of the food manufacturing industry. Through the years, the company has widened its product portfolio to cater to various market segments. Its major products include hotdogs, sausages, ham, bacon, corned beef, and nuggets. It also produces local ethnic products like tocino, tapa, sisig, and longanisa.

Mekeni is also the first and only brand in the country that offers two varieties of tocino: Classic Sweet and Tamis‑Alat; and gluten‑free Chicken Longanisa.
