The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 3 and PhilHealth Region 3 formally launched the Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP) in Central Luzon, with Mekeni Food Corporation chosen as the pilot site in the region.
More than 400 Mekeni employees immediately expressed interest in enrolling, while the company encouraged all 1,400 employees to take advantage of YAKAP’s preventive healthcare services and access to essential medicines.
“We are grateful to DOLE and PhilHealth for choosing Mekeni as the launching site of YAKAP in Central Luzon,” said Uy, AVP for HR and Exports of Mekeni Food Corporation. “This program is very timely and relevant, especially for our employees. We encourage everyone to register and maximize the benefits that will help them and their families live healthier lives.”
DOLE Region 3 Assistant Regional Director Alejandro Inza Cruz, PhilHealth Acting Vice President Henry Almanon, Angeles City Chief Social Insurance Officer Robert Padron, DOLE Region 3 Chief Labor and Employment Officer Maria Rima Hernandez, and Pampanga Field Officer May Lynn Gozun led the launch event.
YAKAP, an expanded version of the PhilHealth Konsulta program, provides comprehensive primary care services such as consultations, laboratory tests, cancer screenings (including mammograms and colonoscopies), and access to 75 essential medicines. Members may avail of up to ₱20,000 worth of health services, easing the burden of out-of-pocket medical expenses.
To access the program, members must register with an accredited YAKAP clinic, secure prescriptions with unique security codes, and claim medicines at designated GAMOT partner facilities.
The nationwide rollout of YAKAP was launched simultaneously across regions, reinforcing the government’s commitment to strengthening preventive healthcare for Filipinos.
